Anne Boleyn’s heraldic falcon badge, crowned and holding a sceptre while perched on a tree stump with Tudor roses sprouting from it, was hastily removed from royal buildings and manuscripts after her execution on May 19, 1536, with many surviving examples showing clear signs of deliberate defacement or erasure.
